Personal Injury Attorney Edward C. Lutz Aggressively Fights for Your Rights

Located in Morris County in northern New Jersey, East Hanover is situated about 23.8 miles – or 37 minutes – north west of New York City. The Town is about eight square miles, and is bordered by Whippany, Florham Park, Livingston, West Caldwell, and Pine Brook.

The Lennai Lenape Native Americans were the first residents of the area until European settlers moved into the area in the 1600s. On August 13, 1708, the Unami, a sub-tribe of the Lennai, gave up their rights to several thousand acres of land in the area in exchange for 10 strands of water blankets, 10 white blankets, 15 kettles, 20 hoes, 20 axes, 4 pistols, a half barrel of wine, 3 files, 10 duffel blankets, 10 guns, 1 barrel of cyder, 1 auger, 1 barrel of rum, 1 gun boer, 4 cutlasses, 100 bars of lead, ½ barrel of powder, 20 shirts, and 100 knives. On December 7, 1720, the British Monarch, King George I, who also ruled over the colonies, named the area “Hanover”, since he belonged to The House of Hanover.

As of 2010, the Town’s population was approximately 11,375. The median household income in 2009 was $102,875 with the median home value at $569,273.

East Hanover has an underground body of water which is a remnant of the last Ice Age.

East Hanover does have a Facebook page, but it has not been updated since 2013. According to, East Hanover is safer than 50 percent of towns in the United States.
