Personal Injury Attorney Edward C. Lutz Fights Medical Negligence

Sparta was created by the New Jersey state legislature on April 14, 1845, by combining parts of five townships, although the community of Sparta is much older. By 1886, several businesses were successful in Sparta including a hotel, two blacksmith shops, a wheelwright, a bar, a jeweler, a distillery, a shoemaker, butchers, a confectionary, and a general store. Several people took in boarders who were men traveling to the area on business, while others took in families during the summer who were escaping from New York City's heat. Sparta, New Jersey is located 45 miles northwest of New York City.

Sparta has a rich mining history which started after Robert Ogden, a prominent settler arrived there in 1778. Mines were popular around Sparta until the late 1800's. At one time, Thomas Edison purchased 2,500 acres on Sparta Mountain and invested over $3.5 million dollars to construct Edison Ore-Milling Company, hoping to supply low-grade iron ore to East Coast industries. Edison had limited success in this endeavor.

Other notable residents with ties to Sparta include professional athletes Greg Baty, Mike Budnik, Chris Jent, Jeff Lenosky, Dan Miller, Jim Miller, Troy Murphy, Gene Prebola, and Tim Sweeney. Sparta is also home to Judge Sylvia Pressler who was notable for her ruling that girls must be allowed to play Little League Baseball. Musicians Cassidy and Jordan Lawlor also have Sparta ties, as does businessperson F. Ross Johnson, and the poet J. Allyn Rosser.

Although Sparta is not home to a hospital, over 40 town residents are trained as emergency medical technicians and provide emergency services. In addition, each of the Town's 40 police officers has access to defibrillators. Residents requiring medical care can travel to nearby Newton to Newton Memorial Hospital or to Morristown's Morristown Medical Center.

Despite the normally high level of medical care received in the Sparta area, there may be instances in which you suffer as the result of less than adequate care. This can take the form of surgical errors, failure to diagnose, prescribing the wrong medicine or a host of other medical mistakes. If you or your loved ones were injured in Sparta or surrounding towns through medical negligence, we are here to help. For over 30 years, the Law Offices of Edward C. Lutz has offered victims and their families the competent and aggressive legal counsel they deserve.

Representing injured clients throughout all of northern and central New Jersey, our firm uses experts in medical malpractice to help determine the true value of your legal claim and to prove your case in court.
